The Fondation Leducq Alliance Against Sudden Cardiac Death was created to enable close collaboration between American and European investigators with the unified goal of combating the emerging epidemic of sudden cardiac death (SCD). Despite impressive advances in primary therapy for myocardial infarction and overall improvements in mortality, SCD remains a problem of major public health proportions.
Individual sites in this Leducq Network each bring special strengths to the Network. These range from specific patient populations to expertise in a range of disciplines important to the overall scientific goals of the Network, ranging from basic electrophysiology and pharmacology to clinical and genome science. Importantly, the ability to interact and leverage large populations and expertise provides the impetus for creation of a Network in which the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts.
The work of the Fondation Leducq Alliance Against SCD is made possible by a generous grant from the France-based Fondation Leducq.
